Eligibility: The competition is open to registered architects and architect-led teams in with the United Kingdom. Architects should be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB). Entrants should note that teams progressing to the second phase of the competition will be required to demonstrate their ability to deliver not only this project but future potential projects for the RSPCA within the UK.

Awards: It is intended that five teams will be selected to proceed to the second phase. Each shortlisted team who submits a phase 2 entry will each receive an honorarium of £5,000 +VAT. The RSPCA undertakes to pay the honorarium within six weeks of the conclusion of the competition. Invoices for payment should be submitted to RIBA Competitions.

2 August 2018: Teams notified of their ability to proceed to the Design Phase & Additional documents issued

Design Challenge: The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is seeking design concepts from registered architects and architect led teams based in the United Kingdom for its Animal Centres of the future. The proposed designs will need to provide the necessary environment for the animals that are in their care, as well as providing facilities to support staff, the public and the societies prevention engagement activities within the community.

The proposed design will be adopted at a new centre which is planned in the North of England as well as being adopted for future site builds and, in the upgrade, and refurbishment of their existing centres, the blueprint for the future.
