Design Challenge:

In the aftermath of the Ya’an earthquake, all of the buildings in Snow Mountain village were either seriously damaged or destroyed. The road connecting the village to a nearby town was destroyed, the water system disabled, and 107 families were left without permanent shelter. The competition targets 25 out of 100 families in the village to be located in a family style hotel, first to be managed by hotel professionals and sales experts, then later administered by the villagers themselves. The other 50 families will be settled in a food production model, responsible for agriculture and food production. The remaining 25 families will be the support line for the service chain, such as laundry, maintenance, repair and light construction. Participants are also encouraged to propose new business models for villages but the proportion should remain as above: 25:50:25.
