Design Challenge:
This design competition is intended to identify the best architect or architectural team to re-shape the Atlanta History Museum. The parameters include:
A new exterior for the Atlanta History Museum
The entrance and exterior is the Museum’s first impression. It should be compelling, recognizable, functional, and relevant to the surrounding neighborhood.
A reconfigured interior space
The interior space should convey a sense of place. The interior should be welcoming and promote exploration and narrative. Flow should be intuitive.
Improved pre-function events space and retail space.
These areas are critical resources for the museum and should be integrated seamlessly into the overall flow of the museum. The total project area for this challenge is 29,600 square feet. The construction budget for is set at $8 million, including contingencies. Architecture and engineering fees and related expenses are expected to be in the range of $800,000.
Submission Requirements:
Physical submission of two 24×36 boards and short narrative
