UIA 2014 International Student Competition

Eligiblity: This competition is limited to students who study architecture (undergraduate and graduate levels). Copies of Student Identity Cards or documentation proving that each member of the team is a student at the time of submitting the competition entry must be provided on registration. The students may submit projects that were done under the supervision of lecturers at their schools of study.

Fee: 500 South African Rands (approx 50 USD)

Awards: 

Gold Prize – 50,000 South African Rands (ZAR) (approx 5,000 USD)
Silver Prize – 30,000 ZAR (approx 3,000 USD)
Bronze Prize – 20,000 ZAR (approx 2,000 USD)

Submission Deadline: 31 March, 2014

Design Challenge:

This competition provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students from schools of architecture around the world to submit their solutions for short, medium and long-term interventions around the dynamic and complex Warwick Junction site in Durban, South Africa. The work of shortlisted student teams will be exhibited, and the competition winners announced, at the UIA 2014 Durban Congress in August 2014. Outside of the cash value of the prizes, the prestige of winning this competition, which forms part of the UIA International Congress of Architecture, cannot be overstated.
