Design Challenge:
The 7th Xella Student Competition is the first time in its 25-year successful history in building a museum in the heart of the award. The extension of the Bode Museum in Berlin is a demanding and challenging task, taking into account the situation of the land – close to Berlin Museum Island and within walking distance of the German Historical Museum and the new art building at Kupfergraben – exerts a special incentive. The extension of the Bode Museum in many uses are united, which is functionally divided into three areas can be divided – a new exhibition space – adjacent rooms (eg depots, restoration workshops, administration, etc.) – new spaces as “Place to be” The Masterplan “Museum Island”, the history of collections and a space program for the extension are important bases of reward.
