THE COMPETITION:
Suva based consultants Tahila Management and Financial Services (TMFS)1 has been appointed Executive Project Managers and Master Planners for a property development in Nausori situated in the Eastern Division of Fiji’s main Island, Viti Levu. Our Client, Executive Development Properties (Fiji) Ltd, (EDP)2, Master Developers for the project, is seeking to engage a local and or offshore architecture firm or firms to design the major components of the development. The mixed-use residential, commercial and hotel development on 19 acres, which has been named The Haven, is to be developed over a period of one to three years with construction beginning in the second quarter of 2007. An Architecture Design Competition has been devised as the process for the selection a suitable architect/firm/s to design and implement the following development components:
1. An integrated commercial and retail centre, split over two buildings incorporating retail, offices, food and beverage outlets, an entertainment zone, a hotel and conference centre, a car park, and a themed water park facility
2. An office complex
3. An apartment complex
It is planned that up to three firms will be invited to present schemes for the architecture design of the above components. Depending on the quality of the submissions, our Client may select one, two or three firms for all or part of architectural work of the components. (Our Client has a number of other development sites in Fiji and this Architecture Design Competition may be viewed by architects/firms as an opportunity to showcase their portfolios to a master developer).
