WEST KOWLOON CULTURAL DISTRICT AUTHORITY : Centre (Chinese Opera Centre) Design Competition

The West Kowloon Cultural District is one of the world’s largest and most ambitious arts and cultural building programmes which will deliver up to 17 new performing arts and visual culture facilities, open spaces, education, commercial and retail facilities as part of a new cultural hub being developed with funding from the Hong Kong SAR Government.

The Xiqu Centre will be a signature facility in the West Kowloon Cultural District.  It will be designed to be a world-class facility that will become the home base for the preservation and development of Xiqu (Chinese Opera) in Hong Kong.

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from experienced and qualified design teams interested in pre-qualifying for a competition (Competition) to select a design / design consultant for the Xiqu Centre.

To be invited to the Competition, those seeking to pre-qualify must clearly demonstrate that they have the capability of producing visually remarkable, technically feasible and buildable, operationally efficient, and innovative designs and of handling all architectural and administrative aspects of projects of this nature. Your submission should focus on how you intend to address a project of this type, and your ability to design and deliver the project. Design or schematic drawings for this project are not sought at this stage.

The EOI for the Competition will close on 10th April 2012. Please visit http://www.wkcda.hk/en/architectural_competition/xiqucentrefor full details.
