Design Challenge:
The Borough of Saint-Laurent issued a call for candidates regarding the construction of a new library and exhibition centre in Saint-Laurent. The new building will also possibly house the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec’s Collection Conservation Centre.
Scheduled to open in 2012, the building will offer citizens of Saint-Laurent a new space firmly anchored in the 21st century, enriched with the latest technologies, focused on high-quality standards, reflecting the community’s needs-a green, multi-faceted cultural hub designed to a human scale.
In compliance with Montréal’s policy on sustainable development for municipal buildings, adopted this past June, the new building, which will have a gross floor area of approximately 6070 m2, is aiming to obtain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) “Gold” certification.
