Eligibility: Teams must demonstrate the capacity to realize such a project

Languages: English, Dutch (All documents submitted by shortlisted applicants should preferably be drawn up in the Dutch language)
Awards: Total prize money is 1.250M EUR (Winners from each of three categories will receive 250,000 EUR. The overall winner will receive an additional 500,000 EUR.)

Process: A shortlisting process will take place, by which three participants will be designated as participants in each category in ‘Phase I’. After producing schematic designs, winners will be announced in each category, who then will go on to the final ‘Phase 2’.

27 November 2008 – Deadline for submission of fully developed preliminary designs.
23 January 2009 – Announcement of winner(s) and presentation of prizes.
Design Challenge:
To create a design for a noise-reduction facility alongside a runway at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The main aim of this barrier is to create noise reduction, but with high aesthetic quality (iconic value) and sustainability as important components of the design. The sponsor is looking for innovative solutions to this problem. Costs and revenues will also be an important factor in evaluating the designs.
